90 days of repairing Tam Dao 01 jack up rig
On November 20th, in Dung Quat Economic Zone (Quang Ngai), Youth Union of Petrovietnam (PVN) in collaboration with the Dung Quat Shipbuilding Industry Company Ltd. (Dung Quat Shipyard - DQS), PVN members held a ceremony to launch 90 day of repairing Tam Dao 01 jack up rig.
This is a meaningful and practical event of DQS youth Union towards 51 year anniversary of traditional day of petroleum industry (11.27.1961 - 27.11.2012) and to welcome National Youth Union Congress , 2012 – 2017 term.
Attending the ceremony were Mr. Nguyen Xuan Son, Deputy General Director of the Group with the leader of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, the Group boards, representing Vietsovpetro (owner of Tam Dao 01 Jack up rig). DQS leaders, Chairman Nguyen Van Hoi, Deputy General Director Tran Hoai An and hundreds of union members, workers are engaged in construction repair Tam Dao 01 rig.

On behalf of Group Youth Union, Mr. Phan Sy Linh, Deputy Secretary of the Group Youth Union has officially launched the competition with a focus goal is to ensure that 90 days and nights to complete repairing items of works, delivery to owner on schedule. To ensure this goal, all staffs, youth union members determine to perform the movement " Four Top": Innovative, highest quality, fastest schedule and safest.

Tam Dao 01 Jack up Rig is a large-scale project, this is the first rig project to be repaired in Vietnam undertaken by DQS with contract value of $ 16.5 million. Tam Dao 01 Jack up Rig with length 65.38 m, width 68m, height 110m, design draft 4.5 m. Upon completion of repair, Tam Dao 01 Jack up Rig will be put to use to exploit oil fields in Vietnam. Main items including: electrical and automation systems, anti-corrosion painting, hull structure, ballast system, mechanical system, drilling system.
In the process of receiving and implement since 15/10/2012, DQS youth faced with difficulties as bad weather conditions, heavy rain, special drilling equipment, lack of experience in the field of repair rig. They try best to complete the assigned tasks, labor hygiene, especially safety on site.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Son, Deputy General Director of the Group assessed that the construction work of repairing Tam Dao 01 undertaken by DQS is hard and very important work. This needs to have construction organization, regulation, safe, direction, and coordinate closely between the owner and DQS. He expressed his belief in the spirit of enthusiasm of all DQS staffs to keep on schedule, ensuring the best quality and efficiency.

According to DQS report, the results of the implementation of repairing Tam Dao 01 up to present was absolutely safe, has completed 95% of the assigned work in the design.
Other construction work, such as hull, valve, drilling equipment, electrical equipment, indicator devices, measuring equipment, etc. are all in progress expeditiously, keep schedule in contract with the owner. Construction forces held up shifts when the weather is favorable to accelerate the implementation of the project.
